Computational simulation of vortex phenomena in superconductors

John W. Neuberger & Robert J. Renka

Abstract:
We have developed a numerical method for approximating critical points of the Ginzburg-Landau functional. We briefly describe the capabilities of our codes and present some test results for the two-dimensional case in the form of plots of electron densities and magnetic fields. Our results demonstrate that vortices can be pinned to small holes corresponding to normal (non-superconducting) regions.
